Quick Response Helps To Save New Resident

hr32322

Firefighters don’t just battle flames – they save lives in countless ways. When seconds counted, the quick response and expert use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) made all the difference between life and death for new Tellico Village resident Ted Napier. Fortunately for Ted, his son knew CPR and began delivering quality compressions as soon as he recognized the issue. TVVFD personnel arrived on scene just minutes later thanks to a Department rapid response vehicle being staged at a member’s home just a few houses away. It was a team effort to continue CPR, apply the AED, and deliver the necessary shocks to sustain Ted until the ambulance arrived providing the next level of care and transport to the hospital. Ted and his wife Nancy recently visited the Fire Station to thank the volunteers who helped save his life – many of whom are seen with them in this photo.

This is the third time AEDs provided by community donations were instrumental in saving the life of a Tellico Village resident! If you want to learn how to help save a life, consider completing a CPR class. You can sign up on our website: http://www.tellicofd.org/events
