A UT Lifestar Bell helicopter made a stop in Tellico Village on Monday evening, July 29th. After landing at the Tellico Village Community Church, the crew spent more than an hour with members of the Tellico Village Volunteer Fire Department and students from multiple local fire departments who are studying to become Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs).
In addition to the pilot, the crew is comprised of one nurse and one paramedic. Together, they had more than 40 years of aeromedical service experience.
The three-person crew reviewed what it takes to identify and establish a safe landing zone, how to approach the helicopter when instructed by the crew, how to safely assist the crew when loading patients, and other safety and operational matters.
The TVVFD would like to thank UT Lifestar and the Tellico Village Community Church for their support of this valuable learning opportunity!.
